_As a young man, I attended
Victoria Community College to work on finishing my basics before moving on to
a four year university. However along
the way to my associate’s degree, I put my college on hold to work for a
drilling company in Louisiana. I worked
for Patterson UTI Drilling Company for two and a half years before returning to
college with a renewed vigor after experiencing what the alternative to a good
education could be. In 2010 I resumed my studies at Victoria Community College and the same year, along with the next, was
accepted as a summer intern at the Matador Wildlife Management Area in Paducah, Texas. This experience made a huge
impact on me and my goals for the future cementing wildlife management as my chosen field. In January 2012 I transferred to A&M- Kingsville to begin my studies to
obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Range and Wildlife Management with a focus on wildlife where I am still enrolled.

I am an outdoor enthusiast, and among my list of outdoor recreations fishing and hunting is at the top of my list. I am currently a senior at Texas A&M University- Kingsville majoring in Wildlife and Range Management Sciences (Emphasis Wildlife) and have earned an associate degree in Wildlife Management. Every Summer and Fall, I have obtained an internship working with wildlife. As the writer for this company, I help provide insight for hunters and fishermen to be more successful in their outdoor recreational activities with my work experience. Also, my proficiency with writing, mapping, and media programs, such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and ArcView provide me with the skills to pin point locations vocally and visually to the readers. From the panhandle of Texas to South Texas and even the SE part of Alaska, I inform hunters and fishermen about the fish and game hotspots. Whether it is fly-fishing, upland game birds, migratory, waterfowl, or deer hunting the Wildlife Firm can provide resourceful information for your next outdoor adventure.
Eric Mehlenbacher
Born August 16, 1985, In Austin Texas, I have always had a passion for the outdoors and all it has to offer. I spent almost every weekend with my father, either bass fishing in the lakes and streams around Austin, stalking/hunting wildlife at the family ranch just south of Brownwood TX, or just hiking the many trails around Austin. After high school, it was clear that I was not ready for college so he went to work for my father in the construction business. Although I excelled in the construction business, I knew that my heart lied with the wildlife and the outdoors. So after two years working construction, it was time to pursue a career in wildlife and start doing work that I was passionate about. I first attended college at Paul Smiths College in the northern Adirondacks in upstate NY, and soon discovered that the extreme cold weather was not right for me. After one year of winters dipping into the -38 degrees, I decided that it was time to head back to Texas. Today I am studying Wildlife Management at Texas A&M University Kingsville, where I am currently a senior. Currently I am conducting an undergraduate research project on the prevalence on Sarcoptic Mange and how it affects the ocelot population on a ranch outside of Raymondville Texas.
